What is the reflectiveSwitch controller used for?
The reflectiveSwitch controller is a programmable, 3-function, miniature proximity (reflective) sensor for 12–24 V DC LED strips. Switching on/off is accompanied by a gentle fade-in/fade-out (lasting approx. 2 seconds).
The controller has the following operating modes:
1. Default mode, monostable – switches off the LED lighting when it detects an object, and switches it on when it detects nothing in front of it (automatic lighting when a drawer, cupboard or door is opened).
2. Inverted mode, monostable – turns on the LED lighting when it detects an object and turns it off when it detects nothing in front of it.
3. Bistable mode – switches the state each time an object approaches the sensor (switching the lighting on/off by waving a hand).
How does the control system work?
The lights switch on and off automatically with a gentle fade-in/fade-out (lasting approx. 2 seconds).
The sensor reacts to the detection of a reflection. Depending on the operating mode, the reflectiveSwitch controller:
1. will switch off the LED lighting when it detects an object, and switch it on when it detects nothing in front of it.
2. switches the LED lighting on when it detects an object, and switches it off when it detects nothing in front of it.
3. changes state each time an object approaches the sensor.
How do I change the operating mode on the reflectiveSwitch controller?
Instructions on how to change the operating mode on the reflectiveSwitch controller are set out in the reflectiveSwitch controller manual, which can be found on the blebox.eu website or via this link.
How does the bistable mode of the reflectiveSwitch controller differ from that of the proxiDimmer/proxiSwitch controller?
The difference lies in the detection method – the reflectiveSwitch works by detecting the reflection of infrared light from the transmitter LED, whilst the proxiDimmer and proxiSwitch detect changes in the electric field. These different operating principles mean they can be installed in different ways – the proxiDimmer and proxiSwitch can be fitted ‘concealed’ behind a furniture panel, whereas the reflectiveSwitch requires both the transmitter and receiver LEDs to be visible.
Is the reflectiveSwitch suitable for aluminium profiles with a diffuser?
Yes! The reflectiveSwitch controller can be concealed within LED profiles fitted with a diffuser (including those that are slightly opaque). If the diffuser is frosted, the sensor element must not be obscured.
How can you ‘increase the range’ of the reflectiveSwitch controller?
The surface that the light-sensitive element is facing should be flat and light in colour. You can stick on a small white or reflective piece if you want a range of more than 20 mm.
How do I power the reflectiveSwitch controller? What is the maximum load?
The maximum load is 5A, which corresponds to 60W when powered by 12V and 120W when powered by 24V. The controller should be powered from the same source as the LED strip.
Does the reflectiveSwitch have Wi-Fi? Can its status be read or transmitted via Wi-Fi?
The reflectiveSwitch controller does not have Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, it is not possible to connect any Wi-Fi module to this controller.
