What is the proxiSwitch controller used for? How does it differ from the proxiDimmer?
The proxiSwitch controller is a switch for 12–24V DC devices. It is switched on and off by bringing your hand close to the surface of the controller, which can be positioned, for example, inside a lamp, under a worktop or on the side of a cupboard. The controller switches the load on and off using an ‘on/off’ function, unlike the proxiDimmer, which, in addition to its dimming function, also has an on/off function but with a smooth fade-in. This difference is significant in certain applications, such as when using the proxiSwitch to control the inLightBox controller.
How does switching on, switching off and control work?
Switching on and off is done by holding your hand close to the control panel, which may be located, for example, inside a lamp, under a worktop or on the side of a cupboard.
How should the proxiSwitch be powered, and what is the maximum load?
The maximum load is 5A, which corresponds to 60W for a 12V supply or 120W for a 24V supply. It is recommended to use a high-quality power supply. Using a ‘no-name’ power supply with high levels of interference may cause undesirable behaviour. The output power can be increased by using the ampBox amplifier.
Can the sensor be fitted near or on metal components?
Metal components and cables ‘conduct touch’, which is often an undesirable effect. Fitting the sensor behind a metal partition will completely render it incapable of detection.
Does the proxiSwitch have Wi-Fi? Is it possible to read or transmit the status via Wi-Fi?
The proxiSwitch controller does not have Wi-Fi. To transmit status via Wi-Fi, you must connect the proxiSwitch controller to another controller with Wi-Fi (e.g. switchBoxDC, wLightBox), and configure the appropriate actions on that controller.
The proxiSwitch controller is behaving strangely – what should I do?
It is recommended to use a high-quality power supply. Using a ‘no-name’ power supply with high levels of interference may cause the device to malfunction. In addition, it is recommended to keep the controller separate from any high-power devices. Furthermore, please bear in mind that liquids and metals ‘conduct’ touch.
