# Owner, permissions

**Who is the owner?**
Each controller can have one owner. The owner can manage other people’s permissions for remote access to our devices.

**What can the owner do?**
The owner has the following rights
: - to grant access to the controller to other users;
 - to revoke access for other users (e.g. former employees of the company);
 - to manage all the device’s settings;
 - to transfer ownership of the device to another user.

**How do I remove the assigned owner?**
There are two ways to change the owner of a device: by removing the device from the owner’s account or by requesting a transfer of ownership.

**How do I remove a device from the owner’s account?**
The owner can remove a device from their account in the ‘Manage device’ tab. Once removed, the owner relinquishes all rights to the device. The next person to add the controller to their account will become the new owner.

**How do I submit a request to transfer ownership of a controller?**
A non-owner can request a transfer of ownership of the controller in the ‘Manage device’ tab. The owner will then receive a link sent to the email address associated with their account. Once the link is clicked, ownership will be transferred to the new user.
