# Lack of communication

Symptoms:

- The controllers are connected to the Wi-Fi network, but they are not visible in the app.
- Local actions and automations are not working.
- The devices periodically go offline.
- Cloud access is unreliable or only partially functional.
- The problem persists despite the network being correctly configured and the Wi-Fi signal being strong.

Possible causes:

- Advanced network security features (SPI Firewall, AiProtection, HomeCare, Threat Prevention, etc.) are enabled on the router.
- A firewall blocks or filters traffic between devices on a local network.
- The anomaly detection and IoT device protection features are active.
- The router incorrectly classifies communication from the controllers as suspicious network activity.
- Additional mechanisms for isolating devices or filtering multicast/broadcast traffic are enabled.

Suggested solutions:

1. Temporarily disable the SPI Firewall and check whether the problem has been resolved.
2. Disable any additional network security modules (AiProtection, HomeCare, Intrusion Prevention, etc.).
3. Check that the router is not blocking local traffic between network clients.
4. Add drivers to the exceptions if your router supports this setting.
5. Update your router’s software to the latest version.
6. After each change, restart the router and check that the devices are communicating.

Note for the installer:
This issue is particularly common in TP-Link and ASUS routers, where comprehensive network protection mechanisms are enabled by default. In many cases, disabling the SPI Firewall function or security modules restores normal communication between the drivers and the application.
